Bariatric specialists in Toronto

Three Royal College-certified (FRCSC), fellowship-trained physicians who lead your procedure, supported by WeightSimple's nurse practitioners, dietitians and behavioural specialists.

What your bariatric specialist does

At SmartSleeveMD, your bariatric specialist is the physician who leads your procedure, from your consultation through your follow-up. In practice, that means:

  • Reviewing whether you're a candidate, looking at your BMI, health conditions, previous procedures, goals and preferences
  • A pre-procedure gastroscopy where your procedure needs one, and the final procedure plan
  • Performing your procedure, and reviewing your recovery before you go home
  • Follow-up at 1 to 2 weeks, 6 weeks, and 3, 6 and 12 months, then continued follow-up through year two
  • Discussing revision options if weight starts to return

How they work with WeightSimple

Your physician leads your procedure. Around them, our medical partner WeightSimple provides obesity medicine physicians, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians and a registered psychologist, who handle the medical, nutrition and behavioural side.

Before your procedure

  • Obesity medicine physicians manage conditions like diabetes or blood pressure, and adjust medication where clinically indicated
  • A registered dietitian builds your custom meal plan and pre-procedure diet
  • A registered psychologist helps you prepare for how eating and routines will change
  • Your surgeon reviews everything WeightSimple has gathered before confirming your procedure

After your procedure

  • Your care plan is shared, so follow-up starts right away
  • Physicians and nurse practitioners manage medication where clinically appropriate, for the hunger signals a procedure doesn't reach
  • Dietitians and behavioural specialists help you rebuild portions, pace and routines
  • Connected devices share your progress between visits, so changes are noticed early

Who does what, stage by stage

Where you'll see them

Procedures take place at Clinic 360, a private surgical facility in Toronto's Leaside neighbourhood, where Clinic 360's anesthesia and nursing teams care for you on the day. Consultations and surgeon follow-ups happen by video or in person at our Brampton or Mississauga clinics.

Your next step

If a less invasive option, a less expensive one, or no procedure at all suits you better, we'll tell you. A free consultation, by video or in person, is where a surgeon reviews whether you're a candidate. Check your BMI below to see where you might start.
